Fuzzy Flower Garden
Anna Bui founded Fuzzy Flower Garden in Kitchener, Ontario, designing and handcrafting unique flower arrangements made entirely from pipe cleaners. She’s always loved flowers, but it would make her sad when they wilted and had to be thrown away. While working as a personal support worker, she noticed that many of her elderly clients would hold onto their flowers long after they’d died. Often, those flowers were gifts from family who only visited a few times a year, so they held onto them for as long as possible, even though they started to smell and attract bugs. That stayed with her. Anna thought: “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if flowers could last?” That idea inspired her to start creating flowers out of pipe cleaners. Watching tutorials online and experimenting on her own at first. She just wanted to make something beautiful for her friends and family, but it’s grown into something much bigger.
Each flower is handcrafted out of soft, vibrant pipe cleaners. They’re long-lasting, non-allergenic, and pet-safe — no water, no wilting, and no mess. Plus, they’re made using recycled and second-hand materials whenever possible, making them a sustainable alternative to fresh bouquets. Anna is as eco-friendly as possible, reusing bubble wrap from pipe cleaner shipments to fill mini flower pots. She’s also partnered with a local Kitchener store that provides her with leftover Styrofoam, which is used as bouquet bases instead of letting it go to waste. It’s a small way she can keep materials out of landfills and give them new life. Most bouquets are made to order. Customers can choose the flower type, colour palette, and any special touches they’d like, such as tiny lights, keepsake photos, or a small teddy bear. Each petal is shaped and glued by hand, which means no two bouquets are ever exactly the same. I think that uniqueness makes them even more special. Right now, she offer’s free delivery in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, and is excited to start selling occasionally at the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market.
